June in the Garden

June in the garden. The month of the summer solstice, when the days stretch until late at night and we can really enjoy spending time outside in the garden, eating outdoors, spending time with family in the good weather and enjoying the beautiful flowers and foliage that this time of year has on display.

Top flowers that will look beautiful this month: The Rose, a real show stopper in June particularly some of the climbing varieties, the wonderful Clematis, the short but spectacular flowering peony, foxgloves are a stunning addition to the garden and are a highlight this month.

Jobs you will see us carrying out in your garden this month:

  • Deadhead Roses

  • Mowing the lawn.

  • Pruning spring flowering shrubs

  • Planting summer bedding

  • Pruning evergreen shrubs

  • Looking out for and tackling pests

  • Tidying up lawn edges

  • Staking plants that have flopped due to rain or wind

  • Continuing to weed

  • Watering dry plants or freshly planted plants

Due to less rain at the end of May it might be an idea to include a bowl of water or bird bath in your garden to help support the birds and wildlife in your garden. Encouraging birds into your space by provide water will also help with pests as they are wonderful at helping to keep pest levels that damage plants at bay. If you would like us to order a water option for you, do let us know, we would be happy to help.

We hope you have a lovely June and enjoy the sunshine,
